Notably, Ashurst was involved in the ANZ and Suncorp merger.
We are advising Akaysha Energy on the project development and innovative virtual toll agreement of the Orana Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Akaysha's Orana BESS is the largest four-hour BESS in the National Electricity Market (NEM). It is expected to commence commercial operations in 2026.

Our passion is to be the most progressive law firm and to achieve this we offer our clients legal-led consulting. Not only do we offer the best legal advice but our Risk Consulting team are able to operationalise that advice. We then use Ashurst Advance (new law) to deliver efficient, cost effective and technologically savvy solutions.
How does Ashurst embody its mission statement?
Today, the pace of change feels faster and more relentless than ever before.
The question is no longer: how do we keep pace? It’s: how do we get ahead, and stay ahead, of change?
Since 1822, our ambition has always been to lead the field, to be ahead of our time, and to inspire change. Through our 200-year history, taking a progressive stance on the issues of our time has been a constant thread, every step of the way. And this thread continues to run through our global firm.
At Ashurst, we’re here to do more than keep pace; we’re here to champion new ideas and to innovate. To deeply understand our clients’ needs and help them realise their ambitions too. To see what others can’t – to go beyond the ordinary – and find solutions that create a better future for our clients and our communities.
At Ashurst, we call this Outpacing Change.
We’re relentlessly anticipating the market’s ever-changing needs and creating integrated solutions that provide the most strategic value for our clients.
Solutions that meet our clients’ full range of legal challenges as well as their commercial goals; we go beyond matters of the law.
Solutions that integrate technology, innovation and flexible delivery models; we’re pioneering new ways of working and delivering greater efficiencies.
Solutions that take a holistic view of our clients’ strategy, business risk and operating models; we’re enhancing performance at Board level and right across the value chain.
