The law building. The Deakin law students’ most prized possession. We absolutely treasure and adore this building, so much so that most of us haven’t even been across the bridge to the other side of campus. And honestly, why would you? Built in 2020, this building is arguably the nicest one on campus, has a cafe, gym and 7 levels with views spanning across the beautiful Burwood area. Saying that we practically live here wouldn’t be an understatement, and with exam season approaching, some students have truly called it their home for these few weeks.
So what could go wrong? Well, security guards walk through the building each night once it has closed, telling students to go home. One night, Alice, who is a known LC-late night frequenter, was stopped by one of these security guards, telling her to go home. However this time, Alice was desperate. She had her Workplace Law assignment due and was under the pump.
“I just wasn’t thinking straight, all I could think about is this massive case! I absolutely abhor the library or studying at home so the only rational thing for me to do at that moment was try and give him $50 to leave me alone!! I promise I don’t regularly bribe people, but this time was different, I was desperate!”
Unfortunately the bribe did not work and Alice was escorted out, and left to finish her assignment at home. We received no word from her that night but hope she finished it in time.
