Annual General Meeting
Event Title: DLSS Annual General Meeting and Elections
Date: Monday 14 September 2020
Time: 5:45pm for a 6pm start
The Deakin Law Students' Society would like to invite you to our Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is a chance to hear what the DLSS has achieved in the past year and what is planned for the future.
All attendees are required to be DLSS members - you can sign up here if you aren't already a member.
The AGM will begin promptly at 6pm on September 14 via Zoom, a video conferencing platform. The waiting room will close strictly at 6:10pm.
Most importantly, the AGM means it is time to elect our 2021 Executive Committee! All Executive positions are up for grabs and will be announced on the night of the AGM once voting has been counted.
If you're interested in becoming a member of the DLSS' executive, position descriptions can be found below alongside the Candidate Application form .
Individuals who are interested in joining the DLSS Executive in 2021 must fill out the provided form with a maximum of two nominations allowable. One week before the AGM all nominations will close and the candidate’s statements will be published. On the day of the AGM all nominees will give a 2-3 minute speech. The audience may ask each candidate questions regarding their suitability for the role. Voting will commence at the AGM after the speeches have been heard for a particular role. The successful nominee will be announced on the day of the AGM once voting has been counted by the Returning Officer.
If you aren't ready to take on an Executive position but would love to join the committee for 2021, then come along to the AGM to learn the ins and outs of each portfolio and the officer appointment procedure so that you're ready to go after exams!
Nominations open: Monday 24 August (today)
Nominations Close: Monday 7 September, 9am
Candidate Statements Published: 7 September, 5pm
Applications have now closed and 2020 Executive Candidate Statements can be found here.
Having your camera on is optional. However, we ask that all Candidates are dressed smartly and have their cameras ON during speech time.
